If you're sending your items here are some guidelines: Remember it is what happens after the Auction, sometimes, that buyers will remember you for. The beauty of Trade Away is that it is a local site for WA, so it will be frequently possible to arrange the pick up of items.
Of course we understand that this may not necessarily be the case for some of our rural members buying items from other Towns, but we encourage you to use this option where possible. As the seller, it is your responsibility to ensure the safe delivery/packaging of the item unless the buyer has agreed to pick up.
A quick guide to packaging
Please ensure that the item, has been appropriately packaged so as to avoid any damage in transit. This means selecting a box of appropriate dimensions, leaving enough space above, below and on each side of the item to be packaged.
If the item is delicate start by wrapping the item in lots of newspaper and bubble wrap and then adding a thick layer of cushioning material like crumpled up newspaper to the bottom of the box before placing the item inside. With two or more items, make sure that they are not packed too close together. Before sealing the box, fill it up with enough packing material so the items can’t move around whilst in transit.
To prevent oddly shaped objects from breaking in transit, wrap securely and fill any gaps with crumpled up newspaper if appropriate. To provide additional support, place between sheets of cardboard to provide a more uniform shape – then wrap with strong paper.
Wherever possible, use the item’s original packing material, especially in the case of heavy electronic items like TVs or computers. Large items may need to be sent by courier.
When addressing your package, print the recipient’s address in large, clear letters and write your return address in the corner just in case. If the item is of high value or if you are worried about it not getting to the destination, we suggest sending it registered post. Please make sure that the item you are posting is not prohibited by Australia Post. For more information about postage options, please follow this link to the Australia Post website.
Delivery
There many options, post, courier, delivery truck, trailers, etc it all depends on the item. If the item is being sent by post then it will arrive when it does, all other methods we suggest making sure both buyer and seller are in agreement of time and location. The cost for this should have been detailed in the listing but if for whatever reason there is any additional costs, communication is the key and this must be clearly stated in the listing.
