Taking and uploading images on Tradeaway is easy...

Just follow the few guidelines below...

Taking Images for the Tradeaway Website
Taking and uploading images to the Tradeaway website is easy. Just follow the few guidelines below...

1. Set your camera to it's lowest resolution before taking the pictures.
For example, this is called VGA (Email) on the Sony Cybershot 5.1 Megapixel camera. Check your camera's user guide if you're not sure. You need to set the camera picture resolution to no greater than 640x480 pixels. Also make sure that the images are in JPG format if your camera offers several different formats.

2. Take the pictures of your item
Remember the basic requirements for taking great shots. Make sure there's no bright light behind your subject (like an open window) but make sure there's enough light on your subject to show up its detail. Take photos from different angles and heights. Take close ups of details that may help sell your item. Also take shots of any flaws or damage. Be honest about the condition of your item. Most importantly, take lots of photos of your item!! This is the best thing about a digital camera. Simply delete the ones you don't like. A general rule of thumb is to take about 5 times the number of photos you require. So if you want to end up with three great shots, take at least 15 originals from various angles and heights.

3. Download from your camera
Follow your camera's user guide to download the photos to your computer.

4. Upload your photos to the website.
This is a simple task done during the sell process when you're listing an item. You can have up to 10 images per listing. If you've followed the guidelines above, your photos will upload quickly as no adjustments are required.

5. Check your new listing.
This way you'll see what your potential buyers will see. If there are any problems with the images, you'll have to delete the listing and start again. So make sure they're the best they can be before you upload them to the website.

Set up your camera before taking pictures of your image.
This makes things much easier as you won't have to bother with resizing your image before uploading it to the website.

For example, this feature is called VGA (Email) on the Sony Cybershot 5.1 Megapixel camera. Check your camera's user guide if you're not sure. You need to set the camera picture resolution to no greater than 640x480 pixels. If your camera offers several different image format options, make sure that the images are saved as .JPG as this is the only format supported by the Website image upload software.

Oh, and don't forget to set your camera back to it's original resolution after you've taken your shots!

Remember the basic requirements for taking great shots. Make sure there's no bright light behind your subject (like an open window) but make sure there's enough light on your subject to show up its detail. Make sure your item is the primary subject. In other words it’s best to place your item on a plain background if possible. Take photos from different angles and heights. Take close ups of details that may help sell your item. Also take shots of any flaws or damage. Be honest about the condition of your item. Most importantly, take lots of photos of your item!! This is the best thing about a digital camera.
