The team at tradeaway has put a lot of time, careful thought and cups of tea into creating a site that's super easy for our members to use and navigate. However we know that using a new site can sometimes be confusing and very frustrating, so here are some helpful tips to make it, we hope easier. Oh and here is that 'Helpful Stuff'...
Selling stuff
There are three ways of selling items on Trade Away:
Auction: List an item and interested punters can place bids on it. The highest bid wins!
Fixed Price/Classified: List your item and simply select the selling price.
BuyNow: Auction meets Fixed Price! - Set up a BuyNow option to move items quickly. Offer the best price you can to ensure a lightning fast sale! Remember, if a member bids above your reserve the BuyNow option is lost. Read more about the
BuyNow option in our help section as there are some rules and regulations.

FAQ's
How many items can I sell? As many as you like! The only restriction is on listing multiple identical items. We would ask you not to upload more than five of them at any one time. Imagine how boring it would be for potential buyers to trawl through pages and pages of identical items!
I no longer want to sell an item that I’ve listed! No worries. Contact the tradeaway team at
theteam@tradeaway.com.au and we will remove the item for you if you have what we consider to be a good reason for us to do so. However, if you have received a bid from a potential buyer, please let them know that you have had the item withdrawn.
What do I do if the buyer/seller is being abusive? Report any abusive behaviour using the Communitywatch link and appropriate action will be taken by us.
The seller/buyer refuses to sell/pay or return my emails. Help! If you haven’t heard from the buyer or seller within five working days or so, we recommend that you use tradeaway’s Feedback function to voice your concern. Check your spam filters to make sure that their emails aren’t accidentally being blocked.
The buyer is trying to negotiate a deal outside of the auction process? Please report this buyer immediately to
theteam@tradeaway.com.au. It is in breach of our Terms and Conditions to make selling arrangements through tradeaway’s question and answer feature, or in any other channel outside of the auction process.
What if the buyer changes their mind about buying an item? If the buyer backs out of a sale, we will refund your success fee. Buyers that we see do this regularly will have their membership suspended. As for the seller, simply relist the item if you wish to start over. Who knows… you could get a higher price!
Oops! I’ve bid on an item by mistake. Email the tradeaway team at
support@tradeaway.com.au and we’ll help you sort it out!
How do I find items for sale close to me? Check out the location selection options on tradeaway’s search bar. Select either “All WA” or a specific Region, or type the item name and Suburb in the search bar, eg, Fridge Leederville.
How do I get more information on an item that I am interested in? You can always use the Question and Answer feature on a listing to ask the seller questions. We suggest ask as many as you need, do your research, and use the tradeaway Watchliist function, to track selected items you're interested in.
How do I get the item that I have bought? tradeaway is based solely in Western Australia, so you won’t be paying international, or even interstate, delivery costs. Bargain! If the seller lives close to you, why not arrange to pick up the item?

Tips for playing Reverse Bids. Scatter your bets, check back as often as possible to keep track of the amount of bids, and tell all your friends so that more people play and the auction closes more quickly!

Nickname: * Please note that your nickname unfortunately cannot be changed, so choose wisely! This is how you will be known to other traders.
Tips on taking photos of items: Items with photos sell better! If you use your digital camera’s self-timer function and set it on a sturdy surface, there is less danger of taking a blurry shot. Go closer! Buyers want to see detail. Take a few photos of your item from different angles, clearly showing the item’s size if possible. If you provide multiple photos of your items, you’ll normally attract more attention, also remember photographs must not include people and must be in a JPG format and no bigger than 300kb in size. Check
Loading & Taking Images for more info.
Listing Discriptions: Whatever you’re listing, offer as much detail as possible, the size the width, length weight, any defects and try and be as clear as possible. If you're struggling with the description, go and have a look at other listings selling similar items, you will have the hang of it no time!
